A great patio does two things: it looks right and it drains right. New Village LLC builds custom patios throughout Westminster, MD in stamped concrete, concrete pavers, and natural stone — with proper drainage slope built into the design before the first form goes in. In Carroll County’s clay-heavy soil environment, drainage isn’t optional. We treat it as a design element, not an afterthought.
We’ve built patios ranging from simple slabs to multi-zone outdoor living spaces connected to pools, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and retaining walls. The scope doesn’t change the standard.
Materials We Work With
- Stamped concrete — poured slab finished with patterns and color while wet. Durable, low-maintenance, wide range of aesthetic options from natural stone textures to brick and wood patterns.
- Concrete pavers — individual units set in a compacted base. Broad style and color selection, individual units can be replaced if needed.
- Natural stone — flagstone, bluestone, fieldstone. Organic look, excellent durability, each installation is one of a kind.
- Poured concrete with decorative edge or broom finish — clean, practical, cost-effective option for functional outdoor slabs.
Drainage First
Every patio we build slopes away from structures, moves water to appropriate discharge points, and accounts for the volume of runoff that Carroll County rainfall produces. If a French drain, channel drain, or integrated drainage system is warranted, we build it in. We do not patch drainage problems after a patio is poured.
Size and Scope
We build patios of all sizes — from a simple 12×16 back door patio to multi-thousand-square-foot outdoor living platforms. Most of our larger patio projects combine with other elements: pool surrounds, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, or pavilions. We can design and build the full scope or work within an existing outdoor space.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a patio installation take?
A standard residential patio typically takes two to five days. Projects that include retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, drainage systems, or larger square footage take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline during the estimate.
What’s the most popular patio material?
Stamped concrete is consistently our most requested patio material. It offers the most flexibility in pattern and color, requires less maintenance than natural stone, and performs well in Maryland’s freeze-thaw climate when properly installed.
Can you build over an existing slab?
Occasionally yes, depending on the condition of the existing slab, its elevation, and the drainage situation. In many cases, removing and replacing the existing concrete is the better choice for long-term performance. We’ll assess this during the estimate.
Does stamped concrete crack?
Concrete expands and contracts with temperature, and control joints are built in to manage where any movement occurs. When installed correctly with the right base preparation, stamped concrete performs very well in Maryland’s climate. The primary performance factor is the quality of the base and installation, not the material itself.
Do you include steps and transitions in patio builds?
Yes. Steps, landing areas, and transitions between elevations are part of the patio build when the site requires them.
